THE ADVENTURES OF SNUGGLEPOT & CUDDLEPIE BEGIN

We are counting down the days before the Company B 2007 Season bursts into life at the Theatre Royal with The Adventures of Snugglepot & Cuddlepie and Little Ragged Blossom (previewing from 9 January). We can’t imagine a better way to begin the year than with this energetic and dazzling large-scale work.

The engineering feat of installing Stephen Curtis’ set at the Theatre Royal in the form of a bush adventure playground is almost complete. And the costume team is working around the clock putting the finishing touches to a colourful and vast display of gumnuts, blossoms, marsupials, lizards, snakes and of course the terrifying Banksia Men. NEW GENERAL MANAGER

At Company B we are looking forward to our new General Manager, Vicki Middleton, starting at the beginning of next week. She also can’t wait to come on board: “I feel really privileged to be joining a company that is so close to people’s hearts – Company B is a much loved national treasure with Neil as its jewel in the crown. Last week a peer, on hearing of my new appointment, told me I had one of the best jobs in theatre, I couldn’t agree more!”

John Woodland has done a wonderful job as Acting General Manager since our GM of ten years Rachel Healy embarked on a new chapter in her career at the Sydney Opera House. We can’t thank him enough.

THE GATES OF EGYPT

A new work by Stephen Sewell is always eagerly anticipated, and after the success of It Just Stopped, the company is excited to be currently rehearsing the premiere production of The Gates of Egypt.

Directed by Kate Gaul, a wonderful cast with Lynette Curran, Michael Denka, Russell Kiefel, Jacqueline Linke, Anna Lise Phillips, Hazem Shammas and Damian Rice will bring Sewell’s haunting and breathtakingly honest play to life.

The intimacy of the Belvoir stage is tailor-made for Sewell’s startling poetic and poignant work exploring peace, violence and the passage of life into death. This is a production not to be missed.

KEATING! RETURN SEASON

Due to an overwhelming demand for tickets that not even an extended season could meet, Keating! will be back in Sydney for a limited two week run at the Seymour Centre, 9-22 March.

The current season at Belvoir St Theatre (4-27 January) is now sold out. And the Seymour season is already selling very, very fast! If you haven't yet had the Keating! experience you really should book as soon as you can - tickets are available through the Company B Box Office on 9699 3444.

Along with the huge demand for tickets, many people have asked for a Keating! CD. And because we don’t like to disappoint, there is indeed a CD in the making! The hilarity of Casey Bennetto’s lyrics and the musical talent of Casey, Alon Ilsar, Mike McLeish, Eden Ottignon, Enio Pozzebon, Terry Serio, Guy Strazz and Mick Stuart will be captured for posterity and endless enjoyment.
