Our education program aims to provide students and teachers with as much access to theatre, both on stage and behind the scenes, as possible. We recognise the role theatre can play in students' learning, broadening their horizons, inspiring and challenging them as they journey into adulthood. Company B is delighted to offer school matinees of all our subscription season shows, the chance to tour backstage and workshops run by industry professionals.

Through our Education Partner, Freehills, we also offer increased access to our shows for students from Priority Funded Schools.

We're also very open to suggestions! Let us know what we can do to support the teaching of drama at your school.

See you at the theatre soon.

Company B Belvoir Education Program

2010 School Matinee Performances

Our 2010 Season kicks off in February with two powerful young voices – UK playwright Polly Stenham's in-your-face piece about teenagers with utterly dysfunctional parents, That Face, then Love Me Tender, Tom Holloway’s Australian re-imagining of Euripides’ classic Iphegenia in Aulis.

Next comes a piece of Verbatim Theatre, The Power of Yes, in which David Hare delves into the human side of the recent global financial crisis. Then Benedict Andrews returns for the first time since Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? to direct an explosive version of Measure for Measure - Shakespeare’s most subversive play.

Neil Armfield’s first work for his final year is Tommy Murphy’s funny new play Gwen in Purgatory, which explores the grace needed to endure your own family in suburban Queanbeyan.

The team that created Ngapartji Ngapartji present Namatjira, a powerful depiction of the life of artist Albert Namatjira.  Wayne Blair and Scott Rankin co-direct, exploring Namatjira’s predicament of belonging to both Aboriginal and white worlds, while never feeling fully at home in either.

Right at the end of the year Neil Armfield and Geoffrey Rush revive their extraordinary production of The Diary of a Madman – a hugely theatrical celebration of Gogol’s outrageous buffoon with delusions of grandeur.

2005 sell-out The Sapphires returns in a brand new production starring Christine Anu and Casey Donovan. Eamon Flack also directs Robert Menzies in Beckett’s astonishing The End.

We hold up to four schools performances for each of our subscription season shows:

That Face
Love Me Tender
The Power of Yes
Measure for Measure
Gwen in Purgatory
Namatjira
The Diary of a Madman

Plus we have schools performances for The End in the Downstairs Theatre and The Sapphires at the Seymour Centre.
