A comical vomit from a stroppy French princess betrothed, against her will, to the 14-year-old Lord of Cumbria. It is 1002 and, besieged by Viking raids, King Ethelred of England has decreed the boy, Silence, will marry the princess, Ymma. Silence, played by Rose Grayson in a costume that merges comic-book hero the Mighty Thor with a pubescent death-metal fan, is a bold innocent who struggles to be taken seriously. First impressions suggest Ymma (Sophie Cleary), who has been expelled from Normandy for being "unwomanly", is one coddled drama queen." |
