Rugby League has its NRL trophy, horseracing has the Melbourne Cup and soccer its World Cup. But for comedy, the ultimate prize is the Theatresports® Cranston Cup, where the funniest improvisers from NSW and Canberra put their wit and courage to the test battling for the biggest, ugliest trophy in Australia.
Theatresports® is the original and still the leading improvised comedy format having inspired TV shows like Whose Line is it Anyway? and Thank God You’re Here.
This year players will include past champions and famous faces such as Rebecca De Unamuno (Comedy Inc), Cameron Knight (Comedy Channel), Jordan Raskopoulos (Ronnie Johns Half Hour), Lisa Ricketts (Joker Poker), and David Bloustien (The Glasshouse). These seasoned vets will battle it out with talented university teams and hungry young newcomers to see who’s the best.
We’ve had seven weeks of heats, and the top teams have made it through to the Semi-Finals and the Repechage at Belvoir St Theatre. Come and see who will win a place in the December 2 Grand Final at the Enmore Theatre.
Sundays at 8.30pm - 11, 18 & 25 November
